Prosper Days 2008 is right around the corner (Monday and Tuesday, February 25-26, 2008).  It is being held at The Parc 55 Hotel, 55 Cyril Magin Street, in beautiful San Francisco. To register please visit the website Prosper Days.

The keynote speaker will be Steven Dubner the co-author of Freakonomics the book and the blog.  He is an enthralling author and speaker, exploring such topics as how crime rate reduction is linked to the legalization of abortion and the relationship between cheating on standardized tests and sumo wrestling.

The keynote address will be given by Prosper CEO Chris Larsen.  For over a decade Chris Larsen has focused on using the Internet to make consumer lending more efficient, fair, honest, open, and trustworthy.

Two intriguing events on the agenda are Leveraging Social Capital in P2P Lending and Investing moderated by Professor Haim Mendelson of Stanford Business School and a blogger panel entitled P2P Lending 2.0 Trends and Insights moderated by Jim Breyer of Accel Partners.

Leveraging Social Capital in P2P Lending and Investing

Professor Mendelson is the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Professor of Electronic Business and Commerce, and Management. He is an electronic commerce and financial services expert.  In addition, he is the originator of the “Organizational IQ” concept, which quantifies an organization’s ability to use information to make quick and effective decisions. Among the panelists is Marilyn Paguirigan the group leader of Malama Ohana and Michele de Boer the Director of Product Development at Zecco.

P2P Lending 2.0 Trends and Insights

Jim Breyer is responsible for over 25 of Accel Partners’ investments, including such household names as Facebook, Macromedia, Walmart.com, RealNetworks, and of course Prosper. The blogger panelists include Jim Bruene publisher of the Online Banking Report and the blogger behind Net Banker. In addition, the panel includes social networking and media expert Dave McClure and the blogger behind Master of 500 Hats. Also on the panel, is Kevin Gillett the blogger behind Rate Ladder and the editor-in-chief of the Prosper Blog. Rounding out the panel is Jorge Sierra a financial analyst, the blogger behind Wealth Boy, and the creator of a many highly used Google Gadget including his most popular: Web Definitions.
